BRIDGEPORT – A longtime mortgage officer and banker has been named chairman of the North Central West Virginia Ad Hoc Committee, an industry-outreach group sponsored by the West Virginia Housing Development Fund. Kurt Leachman, who works with City National Bank in Bridgeport, was named to his post during a recent Ad Hoc meeting.
“Kurt is a strong addition to our Ad Hoc Committee and we’re all very excited about the enthusiasm and excitement he will generate as chairman,” said Erica Boggess, the Fund’s Acting Executive Director. “He brings leadership, vision and charisma to this post and with years of experience in the industry, he’s sure to offer our members some great insights.”
Boggess added that former chairwoman Annette Hall with MVB Bank was a great asset to the committee.
The Ad Hoc Committee, which hosts meetings in Charleston, Clarksburg, Parkersburg and Martinsburg, is a group of professionals from across the housing industry who meet regularly to share ideas, network, learn more about Fund programs and take part in educational forums. Members include lenders, builders, realtors, appraisers, attorneys, non-profits, association members and government agencies.
Leachman, who has been actively involved with the Ad Hoc Committee, said he looks forward to his new role and wants to impart how a wide spectrum of housing professionals can benefit from attending Ad Hoc Committee meetings.
“Through these gatherings we can offer information on what’s happening, especially at the West Virginia Housing Development Fund, and how that can reflect on the market,” Leachman said. “If you are interested in financing and selling more homes, or you work in any aspect of the housing industry, you need to attend these meetings. They are very important.”
Leachman has worked in the mortgage business over 30 years in loan origination and management. He currently works as the Government Lending Manager and Mortgage Specialist for City National Bank in Bridgeport. He also recently served as retail mortgage branch manager for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage in West Virginia.
