Constructing Affordable Sensible Homes

The Constructing Affordable Sensible Homes Program provides a guaranteed purchase contract to builders and/or modular home manufacturers for speculative homes constructed in West Virginia with a pre-construction appraised value not exceeding $150,000. If the house is not sold after a defined marketing period, usually 60-90 days, the builder may request the Housing Development Fund to purchase the house at an agreed upon price. Stick built, modular or other construction types are eligible. The agreed upon purchase price guarantee may vary as a percentage of the appraised value depending on the market, type of unit being built, marketing efforts or other factors.
